Handing Out Fliers in Parking Lots and
Posting Signs on Telephone Poles

I printed up hundreds of fliers and posted them on car windshields wherever I could find large parking lots of cars.  I had to move fast or "Security" would catch me and make me remove the fliers before running me off the premise.  As you can guess, I received ZERO PHONE CALLS from this marketing approach.

Next I printed up a couple dozen yard signs and began posting them onto utility poles in high traffic areas of the city.  The next day I received a number of phone calls... from the Police.  They told me I had 24 hours to remove the signs or I would be fined.  I removed the signs immediately, then pitched them into the trash. More wasted advertising dollars.

Next, I tried...

Cold-Calling Out of The Phone Book

I picked up the phone book and started calling businesses - especially doctors.  I called them to see whether they would sell my products in their office or business.

I even mailed out expensive brochures and information CDs to businesses that had no idea who I was.  I just thought that the information was so compelling, who could possibly resist, right? 

I was dead wrong.  I spent a ton of cash and had nothing to show for it.

100 "Bump-Intos" a Day!

Through sheer determination, I became a full-time network marketer then quickly realized - I had no one to talk to. 

So what did I do? 

I left the comfort of my air-conditioned home and went out into the summer Texas heat each morning with the goal of "bumping into" 100 new people a day and prospecting them for my business opportunity. If you've ever been in Texas during August then you know that what I was doing was extremely hard work... and HOT! Think about it... it's tough prospecting a successful business person when your shirt is wet with sweat!!!

That's when I thought...

"There Has To Be a Better Way!"

And there was.

I began purchasing mlm leads or business opportunity seeker leads and started dialing... learning... and improving my skills.  I remember the first batch of mlm leads that I purchased. They were so bad that I made 100 calls and made 3 widows cry in a single evening when I asked to talk to their deceased husbands. Let's face it... I had been scammed by that mlm leads vendor!

As time went on I continued to hone my skills, I found sources of better mlm leads and I taught myself "email marketing". I wrote creative emails and landing pages.  I sent my prospects emails which directed them to my landing pages where they filled out the web form to receive more information on how they could generate money from home. When I started "sifting and sorting" prospects in this manner and stopped "begging" or harassing people to join my business, my commission checks took off!

Later I got into online marketing of manufactured housing and that's when I really began to "cut my teeth" in the leads business.  Having created the largest portal site for manufactured housing, I generated and sold finance, insurance and home sales leads. I sold info products and even had my own online parts store.
